Dead beat dads get a lot of criticism in the world today. You can step into just about any city or small town in the country and hear people bashing this son of a so-and-so that does not bother to take care of his children. No matter what his reason, he will still get the short end of the deal every time. Now I’m not stickup up for dead beat dads. If a man is grown up enough to make babies then he should be grown up enough to take care of those babies. My gripe is with dead beat moms. There are thousands of mothers who do not have custody of their children. Thousands of mothers who do not spend the time that they should with their children and do nothing to help take care of them. They do not pay any sort of child support. They do not offer to buy their children clothing for school or pay any of their medical bills. Now, the worse part of this is that if these women were men then they would probably be in jail. Because they are women we are supposed to feel sorry for them. Well, not me. I have a very difficult time understanding how a woman can neglect, abuse or otherwise mistreat a child that she carries in her own body for almost a year. I understand that it takes two to tango and that the woman did not conceive the child all on her own, but honestly, I can not figure out how a woman can not want to have her child with her always. Or at least ensure that her child is taken care of. And I really do not understand why it is ok to bash dads who do not take care of their children, but when it comes to the mother then we are expected to look the other way. Mothers should be more ridiculed for not taking care of their children. They should be treated just like fathers when it comes to spending jail time over child support, or being forced to provide insurance or other needs for their children. I will never understand why if a father has custody of his children, then it is ok for the mother to simply let him handle everything that has financial aspects. Men honestly do not make any more money than women do these days. If a woman is not going to help take care of her children, then shouldn’t she be treated like a dead beat mom? Why should mothers be so special? I have nothing against these people in general, it just ticks me off when I hear that a mother who neglects to provide for her children is crying and begging the judge not to send her to jail. If a man were to do that they would laugh him right out of the courtroom. I simply refuse to believe that dead beat mothers should be treated any differently than dead beat fathers.
