Don Imus Gone!

When you listen to the news media as we did in the Duke case and you hear Don Imus’s counter parts at MSNBC downing him for his remarks you have to realize that in 1972 he would have been fired on the spot. 1985to1989 FCC would have fined suspension or possibility of being fired. Here is my problem with the whole story: the constitution is being waved around for Rosie, who should have never made it off of MTV, and Howard Stern, who has used women for years, built a career and has done it brilliantly, and they too have been called on for some of there comments as well.

My point is that it’s 2007, so is what Imus said really that bad? More than likely some of the players, on a Saturday night have been with friends, having a few drinks and have been listening to or even singing those very words to each other in a hip-hop, or rap song! I have heard bits and pieces and what Don Imus said in the context of the conversation, is nothing compared to what the younger generation speaks of today.Don Imus certainly didn’t teach them that. Don’s problem is that he was talking like his audience in stead of talking to them.

We all allowed Dr Ruth to talk years ago about private parts (no pun intended Howard) because it was in the context of what she was saying, and that was fine.

Some of you have an opinion of me already and are calling me all kinds of things, some pretty bad as you read this! So the next work day you need to go in a quit because you called me these things. You know, there are two knobs for all the shock jocks — one will change the station and the other will turn it off. And in the big picture, Don Imus is on the mild side as a shock jock.

When the microphone is open you can’t take it back, it’s out there. How many of us, could go on the Imus show for two hours and say something that we later thought was dumb? Could you entertain millions and keep a conversion going daily for hours and never say something you could be called on the rug for?

Sorry has been said enough; I’m tried of hearing about it. What about the public out cry for the duke students, now there an injustice!!! We’ve got more troubles in our country than one statement from one guy. This had nothing to do with race, if that were the case there would only be white children at the ranch he sponsored, or the ratio at the camp would be heavy in one direction!

And this might be the right thing to do for MSNBC to protect them selves from all of this, by keeping this front page, and parading guests on there show’s that most people could careless what they had to say!. I would take my vacation, take a look at a troubling morning TV show to simulcast your show over, and move to satellite radio, and then tell them all to kiss your ass!
