I’m not bashing stardom by any means

Let’s talk for just a minute about celebrity hype. More specifically, all the bad news that we hear about our “favorite” celebrities. Now, I’m not bashing stardom by any means. I think that it’s great what some of the bigger celebrities do to help the needy and so forth. What really gets me going is when we have to sit through countless hours of news interruptions to hear that Britney has yet again taken those little evil pills of hers and lost contact with her children. Honestly, you would think that everyone would know by now. Britney is addicted to the bad stuff. Period. End of discussion. Let’s all go on with our happy little lives. I am terribly sorry that she has lost custody of her children. But, after all, they did warn her. Did she listen? Why no, of course not. Why would she listen? After all she has gotten away with everything else in the past, why not this? Along the same subject, I do not believe that K-Fed would make much of a better parent for those innocent babies, but at least he’s not a pill popper, right? He may be worthless and poor, but he isn’t addicted. Yes, this is a terrible tragedy. People’s lives have been ruined and poor Britney may never fully recover. So what? People become drug addicts every day of the week. Mothers lose their children and life goes on. Sure we feel bad for the children, but I, for one, do not feel bad for the mothers. They made their own choices. They have every opportunity to put their children first and they don’t. Now their children have the right to live normal and productive lives without being in the presence of a strung out mother. Well, this is just all too sad. The stories themselves I feel bad for. The fact that Britney’s story has once again pre-empted my daily dose of Ellen is just too much. I have the right to watch what I want to watch. I do NOT want to see a sad, pitiful crying Britney feeling sorry for herself because her babies have been taken to a more decent and safe environment. Give her a one minute spot on the evening news and leave my television alone! Really, it’s almost as bad as the media still drudging up what OJ did. Every time he steps out of line, we lose precious minutes off our television time to hear about it. I agree that people who think they can do whatever they want, whenever they want should learn their lesson. But I didn’t do anything, why am I being punished? There is so much bad going on in the world right now. People are being murdered, raped and don’t even get me started on the war in Iraq. That’s a completely different rant all together. Anyway, with so much bad going on, we know that the world is far from perfect. If a soldier is killed in Iraq, he gets maybe two minutes of recognition from the media. The other 58 minutes of news time is spent letting us know how Paris Hilton found her favorite shoes or how Britney or OJ have once again stepped over that thin line. Honestly, if people really wanted to know about the sad lives that celebrities live; couldn’t they just watch Jerry Springer?
